Don't Open Until the Moon is Overhead

This is my favorite piece of poetry I wrote all year long. It was about going out and looking at the moon on a clear cold winter evening, and I wrote it after actually doing exactly that. It's pretty descriptive and in depth, so I like it. Enjoy.

The world slows down around you
And you look up to find a new discovery.
Breathe deep, my friend, take it all in
Whilst being bathed in the Moon's soft glow.
The lights are off
The air is crisp and cold,
So cold your nose goes red,
But it doesn't matter.

The pure beauty of the night sky
Steals all your attention.
And at that exact moment,
You are nothing but a breath.
In, out, in, out.
The air is so chilly it burns your lungs.
A burn that reminds you of your humanity,
Your morality.

Then all of a sudden,
It's too much to bear.
The chill too strong
And the views too beautiful.
So you turn and return to your warm house
Realizing that no one
Could ever understand.
