This is one of our in class writing assignments that I edited after the fact. The assignment was called the Chris and Pat Story, but I only had one duo in mind the entire time: the great pair of Jim and Dwight from The Office. So that's who I decided to write it about. Enjoy.
Jim and Dwight's feud has been forming for years now. Everyday at work, the two go through stages of pranking each other. Ranging from putting all Dwight's office supplies in Jello to moving each others desks around in various ways, the two always seemed to have a rally of pranks between them. They have been arch-enemies since the day they began working together.
One day Jim came up with a new way to mess with Dwight. He had realized that every Casual Friday, Dwight would wear his Battlestar Gallactica, So he came in that Friday wearing his one and only Star Trek shirt. Jim had actually become excited about this because the Star Trek shirt was his favorite of all his t-shirts.
As expected, Dwight also broke out his favorite shirt for the occasion. He had bought it a few months ago at his favorite annual event, ComiCon. The logo on the front was worn already, but not for a style; this was from being washed daily. He had worn it so much the fabric had worn thin. But he didn't care.
When Dwight saw Jim's shirt as the two entered into the office, he gasped and squeeled in absolute disgust. "What makes you think it's alright," he exclaimed, "to wear such an abominable and atrocious shirt into a fine establishment like this?"
"It's Casual Friday Dwight!" said Jim, "and I just wanted to rep the best television show to ever see the air time."
"No, take that back!" exclaimed Dwight. "Fact: Battlestar Gallactica beats Star Trek."
"Obviously there's only one way to solve this. We're going to have to watch and critique an entire season of both shows. And we cannot leave until this is resolved."
And so the two descended into the conference room to begin their mission. They stayed in for the entire work day, and even by the end of the day they had not come to a conclusion. Pam stepped into the room and saw they had gotten nowhere, so she had a brilliant idea to settle the arguement.
She stepped back into the room without an ounce of doubt. As Jim and Dwight yelled at her in the background, she popped out the current Star Trek disc and popped in an alternate. She walked straight back out.
The duo stared at the screen in amazement for two hours straight. When they came back into the office, everyone had already left and gone home but that didn't matter to them. They two had settled their debate. Pam's sci-fi of choice?
STAR WARS.
